FUPP Patrol Crescent Street

So today the FUPP Patrol aka yours truly and the gang herein known as "the fun, unique promotion people" wanted to see what marketing hype was at Grand Prix Weekend in Montréal on Crescent Street.

Well, we were not impressed - I guess the idea been there done type of thing didn't thrill me.  In a way, with all the promotional ideas and products we see available from worldwide sources nothing grabbed me while walking the site.  I think if they were on Celebrity Apprentice they would have lost.  Even some of the so called advertisers' brand ambassadors seem to be missing that je ne sais quoi And funny, there didn't seem to be any brand ambassadors aka eye candy for the women, only for the men.  We know that the Grand Prix is geared towards men but advertisers could also appeal to women race fans too?

I think there could of been a lot more innovation and if advertisers are going to hand out something I would hope it be more then a business card or paper bookmark.  You want to grab my attention at a street event, the last thing I want to take home as a freebie is a paper bookmark!

I get tons of company business cards at trade shows guys!  And not impressed by one company of displaying sexy portraits at a public event when parents are walking around with kids ages 2-6.

Anyone can do marketing and promotions but if you can't grab the heart of an industry veteran (gee did I say that - lol) and wow him then maybe you have to re-think the plan.  This is the key time to have sampling events, bribe me and make me want to buy your product.  Hence no samples, no free beverages, just a lot of free sunshine and Montreals' Finest in full force.
